The campaign also seeks funds for legal and medical costs, as well as to create a trust in her son\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
Any funds raised beyond the target, she says, will go toward pushing for anti-bullying reforms and helping other families suffering through similar tragedies.<\/p>\n

The Bullying Began Immediately
\nAtreyu had just entered Year 7 at South Sydney High School in early February. Within two days, Clare says he came home in tears, begging her to help stop the abuse.<\/p>\n
What followed were months of relentless torment: physical attacks, emotional cruelty, and even an incident where classmates allegedly tried to drown him during a school camp. Despite repeated reports \u2014 at least 10 in total \u2014 to the school and the Department of Education, Clare says no meaningful intervention occurred.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just destroyed him,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd in a moment of immense pain, he just did something, because I think he didn\u2019t know what else to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
In April, after Atreyu expressed suicidal thoughts directly to his mother, she pulled him out of school and sought professional help. For a brief time, there was hope. But the damage had already taken its toll.<\/p>\n

A Young Talent Lost Too Soon
\nAtreyu had already begun to make his mark in the arts, with appearances in series like Deadly Women and films such as Black Truck and Benefited. His mother, known for her work as an actress and filmmaker \u2014 including her award-winning film Benefited \u2014 is now using her voice to shine a light on the crisis too many families face in silence.<\/p>\n
