A British interviewer recounted an incident involving Donald Trump long before he was elected president, which she now finds hilarious.<\/p>\n
Ruby Wax is an American-born comedian who, at 70, has long been a fixture on the BBC as a host of several programs. And while she\u2019s not widely known outside the UK, she got tossed off the plane of then-billionaire real estate developer Trump in the 1990s after she laughed at him when he said he wanted to be president.<\/p>\n
Wax recalled the story during an appearance on Kate Garraway\u2019s ITV chat program.<\/p>\n
The BBC fixture said that during pre-interview meals, which were a must with her, the interviewee would mention \u201creally personal things\u201d to her that she would later not bring up during the formal interview.<\/p>\n
But that isn\u2019t quite the way things worked out with Trump, according to Wax.<\/p>\n
\u201cDonald \u2014 you know, when a man treats you like an idiot, you kind of become an idiot,\u201d Wax explained. \u201cBecause he knows females because he just has sex with them. But he couldn\u2019t figure me out. He really was so fierce and so vicious. He said, \u2018You\u2019re angry with a smile.\u2019 So he got me \u2014 because I was backed into a corner.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe did say, \u2018I want to be the next president of the United States,\u2019 and I thought it was a joke,\u201d she continued. \u201cI thought, \u2018What a sense of humor this guy has.\u2019 So I started laughing.\u2019 And he said, \u2018That\u2019s it, I want her off the flight.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we only got to 33,000 feet, and we went straight back down again. It\u2019s not a good show,\u201d she added (see video below).<\/p>\n
Wax told the story to Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins on \u201cGood Morning Britain,\u201d saying that Trump \u201cwouldn\u2019t speak\u201d after she laughed in his face about his presidential ambitions.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo my crew and I landed and we were stuck in Arkansas with nowhere to go,\u201d she noted, according to the U.K.Mirror. \u201cWe ended up finding him in Nebraska judging a Miss Nebraska contest.\u201d<\/p>\n
This comes as President Trump\u2019s approval rating has risen to near-record levels, despite several days of outrage from Democrats, establishment Republicans, and mainstream media outlets over the president\u2019s ambitious trade changes.<\/p>\n
According to a newpollconducted by J.L. Partners in collaboration with the Daily Mail, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters from March 31 to April 3, Trump\u2019s support rating increased even after sweeping tariffs were imposed on dozens of trading partners on April 2.<\/p>\n
The study indicated that Trump\u2019s approval rating increased to 53 percent, a four-point improvement from last week\u2019s poll, when it was 49 percent. The Daily Mail termed the outcome as \u201csurprising\u201d considering the intense pressure and stock market crash that occurred on Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s favorability rating among voters aged 18 to 29 has improved by an amazing 13 points since March 7.<\/p>\n
The study implies Trump is building on the tremendous support he earned from the group in the November presidential election, when voters aged 18 to 29 switched 10 points in Trump\u2019s favor after heavily supporting Joe Biden in 2020.<\/p>\n
The president\u2019s support rating increased by six percentage points among registered Democrats and independents, according to the study. The president\u2019s favorability among black voters has increased by 17 points since last week\u2019s survey.<\/p>\n
Nearly 100 days into his presidency, American employers and job board leaders have given Trump a very favorable report card, saying they believe the economy \u201ccan win now,\u201d even though, as they note, it hasn\u2019t \u201cstarted to win yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI would give President Trump, right now, a pretty solid B+,\u201d FIG Strategy & Consulting founder, author and Freedom Economy Index (FEI) respondent TaChelle Lawson told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe came in with a very clear plan, and that was focusing on economics. He\u2019s definitely putting business first, trimming the fat. That\u2019s something that small business owners, business operators understand and respect. I think that it\u2019s clear that his focus is on American business,\u201d she added. \u201cI do, however, think that the messaging could use a little bit of work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lawson is one of over 50,000 small business owners who took part in the latest quarterly survey by RedBalloon and PublicSquare. The survey revealed that more than two-thirds of respondents now expect the economy to experience either \u201cslow\u201d or \u201crobust\u201d growth throughout the year\u2014a complete turnaround from the previously negative outlook, Fox Businessreported.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we\u2019re seeing right now is we have a very sick economy, and it needs some very strong medicine. And if it gets that medicine, we all feel like we have a very strong economy that will win and will actually be a huge blessing to the entire world,\u201d RedBalloon CEO Andrew Crapuchettes also told Fox.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause when the U.S. economy is strong, when small businesses in the U.S. economy are strong, we feel like we can have a disproportionate and positive impact on the entire planet,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of good work that\u2019s being done, but that work still needs to be done for the economy to actually get better.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThese small businesses are now feeling like we\u2019re coming up on the 100-day mark of Trump\u2019s presidency.
