The Republican-controlled House has passed legislation to prevent future administrations from prohibiting oil and gas drilling without the consent of Congress, giving President Donald Trump and his administration another key win.<\/p>\n
The \u201cProtecting American Energy Production Act,\u201d which passed by a vote of 226 to 188, forbids the president from \u201cdeclaring a moratorium on the use of hydraulic fracturing unless Congress authorizes the moratorium.\u201d<\/p>\n
Republican House members unanimously voted in favor of the legislation\u2019s passage, while 118 Democrats voted against it.<\/p>\n
Just weeks before he left office, former President Joe Biden banned future oil and gas drilling along 625 million acres of coastal and offshore waters, among other oil and gas-related regulations. The bill follows his actions.<\/p>\n
The Republican who introduced the bill, Rep. August Pfluger of Texas, stated that the legislation was prompted by worries about possible fracking bans during the Biden administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook at where we are now in May of 2025. The advantage actually went up by three points. Now Republicans have a 12-point advantage when it comes to the party with a better economic plan. And again, this is after months of economic \u2014 supposed economic uncertainty in which the stock market\u2019s been going bonkers, in which the tariff wars that Americans are against have been going on. And yet, despite all of that, the Democrats are down by 12 points on the economy. This speaks to Democratic problems on the economy better than basically anything that you could possibly look at,\u201d the stunned data analyst said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Republicans still hold an advantage on the all-important key issue of the day. And that is the reason why, even if Donald Trump\u2019s approval ratings are a little bit lower than they used to be, Republicans are not out of the ballgame because they still have a clear advantage on the economy, whether you look at CNN\u2019s polls or whether you look at the IPSOS poll right here in which they have a 12-point advantage on the economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
